Two “industry” stock photos

As I said before, everything looks good when silhouetted. I was passing by those two scenes while driving and I stopped, knowing they would probably sell as stock one day.

Everything looks good when silhouetted

As we where approaching the small town of Rouyn-Norenda last month, the setting sun started to gives us the best show he could come up with. We were driving on a small road without much to photograph, but I had to find something anyway.

So here is some of the photos I shot that I finally post-processed for mu stock archive today.

La cabane à sucre et le douanier

Je ne me considère pas comme un photographe de paysage, loin de là. Mais lorsqu’une scène intéressante me saute au visage, je ne pointerai certainement pas mon appareil photo dans la direction opposée.

J’arrivais à Piopolis, petit village sur les rives du Lac Mégantic, en assignation pour The Gazette pour faire un portrait. Je suis alors passé devant cette cabane à sucre (pour mes lecteurs de France…). Les couleurs, les contrastes, l’ambiance… Je l’entendais me crier « prend moi en photo! »

Le village n’étant situé qu’à quelques kilomètres de la frontière américaine, j’en ai profité pour aller prendre quelques photos du Maine. Toujours difficile d’expliquer à un douanier qu’on veut juste traverser pour une heure, et qu’on n’a AUCUNE idée de ce qu’on veut photographier ni même de ce qu’il y a l’autre bord des « lignes »… J’avais eu le même problème à Buffalo.

This summer, I had the chance to do a very neat commercial job (can’t show you what it is just yet) that needed some photos from above. During my scouting in places that people do not usually have access to, I took some photos that turned really nice.

Discovering Lebel-Sur-Quevillon, Qc

Norkraft Domtar pulp mill
The Norkraft Domtar pulp mill is pictured July 15, 2009 in Lebel-Sur-Quevillon (QC). Stopped since November 2005 for a lock out, the Domtar mill permanently closed its door December 18 2008. The pulp mill and the sawmill, also closed, where responsible for 70% of the job in this mono industrial town of 3000 citizens located 600km north of Montreal.

Mashteuiatsh innu / Montagnais native reserve artwork

I was just passing by on my way to see my dying step-mother, so I just stopped a couple of minutes to photograph the obvious. A couple more Mashteuiatsh innu / Montagnais native reserve images are on my stock site.

A tipi-shaped artwork is seen on a promenade facing the lac St-Jean lake in the innu (Montagnais) reserve of Mashteuiatsh (also called Pointe-Bleue) in the province of Quebec, Canada. The reserve is the home of almost 2000 Innu-Montagnais.
